Our cat, Mrs Bean, must be getting sick of us pointing a camera at her (although as a cat, we're sure she loves being the centre of attention!). She's not the easiest cat to take photos of though, as she's very dark and the light in our flat is not great. After we bought 50mm prime lenses, however, all that changed. The ability to shoot in low light and not get blurry images, and the shallower depth of field enabled us to get some lovely photos of her, completely changing how she normally looks on camera. These two that Angela took are our favourites, we can't help but picture her as a film star!

The old family cat
A trip up to Norfolk to visit Lucy's parents usually involves lots of photography, particularly of Oscar, the old arthritic family cat. He spends most of his days sleeping under radiators, next to the fire, or lying in a sunbeam. Occasionally he will venture outside, slowly but surely making his way to his destination. Lucy took these shots of Oscar, being particularly sociable and affectionate and very photogenic that day!

French Portraits
A selection of the portraits Angie took whilst we were all in France. The starkness of the light created some great shadows.
A French Escape
The two of us at You-Nique Photography took a short break in October to cross the Channel and see a bit of France. Of course, we couldn't resist carrying our cameras with us wherever we went as there were hundreds of photographic opportunities! Lucy's parents were with us on the trip and Angie managed to capture some great portraits of them all (See the post above). Most days, the light was very bright and direct and this made for some great shadows and reflections, and also some odd effects. Selection of photos below...

Rodrick's Christening
A gloriously warm October day found us in the New Forest photographing little Rod's Christening. The ceremony took place in a church surrounded by fields as far as the eye could see and was followed by a reception at the local golf club. The function room had a wall of windows which allowed the autumn sunlight to pour in, providing us with perfect photographic light. A selection of photos from the day are below.

A big warm welcome from You-Nique Photography!
Hi all, welcome to You-Nique Photography's blog. This is where we hope to keep you up to date with all our latest wedding and portrait sessions, and any random day trips out with our cameras. We will also post any new or important information here, that we think will be of use to our clients and viewers, so please bookmark us and do come back and visit us whenever you can.
Hopefully this blog will give you a good idea of our style of photography - our aim is to take natural, documentary style portraits, nothing posed (unless you specifically request it), we will blend into the background and snap away whilst you, your family, your partner, your pets, act yourselves. Whether you are playing on the beach, having a picnic, or maybe even just sitting outside in the sun with a good book, we will capture these moments as they happen naturally. Our photographs are simply all about you, the real you!
