Lucy's name in lights!

Back in August last year, I noticed that the Kings Theatre in Southsea were looking for local artists to exhibit work on the walls of the theatre. Never one to pass up an exhibiting opportunity, I got in touch, showed them some samples of my work which they seemed to love and I was booked in for a week's exhibition in February. Overjoyed at the thought of theatregoers and the public seeing my work, I got started on the planning, decidig which photos to show, how many, framing and hanging styles, etc. At the time it seemed miles away, but it soon came round. A private view was planned, postcards and invites given out. The exhibition went up, the positive comments came flooding in, and the private view was a wonderful evening, with people bustling around in the narrow promenade area where the photos were displayed. I even made a few sales which was more than I expected! It was a great boost to know that people out there were interested in my work, and were even willing to come from miles away just to see it, so thank you all who attended, it really meant a lot. The other great thing was seeing my name in lights! On the front of the theatre there is an LED scrolling sign which tells people what shows are happening, and mine was up there, what a thrill!

My fine art work is something I do alongside the portrait and wedding work (and ideally I'd love to earn a living just from that, but gotta live in the real world I suppose!). Angela is starting to get the bug too and we often find ourselves out and about, noticing the same things, always trying to beat each other to the perfect shot!

Here's some examples of the work I put up at the exhibition, more can be seen on my website www.lucykayne.co.uk and my Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/lucykaynefineartphotography
